Bush Music Club

Established in 1954, the Bush Music Club was named in honour of the survival in bush areas of that style of self reliant entertainment and sociability that seemed so scarce in the "big smoke". The Club's present, two-monthly magazine Mulga Wire deals with the social aspects of the present-day organisation, reviews and events.

EL Taller Art Studio

El Taller is an art studio that runs specific classes in sculpture and painting. It also acts as a resource group for non-English speaking background artists looking for venues, materials, tools and support to create and exhibit their work or sometimes an informal chat to exchange ideas in a friendly atmosphere.

Hut 22 is small rehearsal and workspace for Artists and Performers. It is used by dancers, musicians, costume makers, photographers, community groups and performers to rehearse and make sets, costumes and props etc.


Radio Skid Row 88.9 FM

Radio Skid Row is a community radio station broadcasting to the municipalities of Leichhardt, Marrickville and the City of Sydney. The station has been providing access to the community for more than 25 years with more than fifteen different language groups, youth organisations and other special interest groups using the facility every week.

Sidetrack Performance Group

Sidetrack Performance Group works with theatre artists from diverse cultural and performance backgrounds exploring and developing new ways of making and presenting theatre. Sidetrack's base in Marrickville is one of Australia's most culturally diverse locations. In its 22 years of existence it is Marrickville's diversity which has been the sustaining inspiration for the company's work.

Ultimo Project

Originally from Ultimo, The ULTIMO PROJECT is an artists’ studio collective that evolved out of the artists’ space movements of the late nineteen seventies and early nineteen eighties. These were loose collectives of artists working with an initiative from the Artworkers Union aimed towards securing affordable housing and studio spaces for artists.

The Addison Road Child Care Centre is a non-profit Marrickville Council run long day care centre, catering for children 0-5 years of age. The centre is open from 7.30am-6pm, Monday to Friday. The centre currently has over 20 different cultural groups represented in the families enrolled at the service.

Latin American House

Hut 47 is the meeting place of various Latin-American solidarity groups with the purpose of supporting different social and human rights projects in places like Argentina, Chile, Cuba and Uruguay. We support these projects through fundraising, festivals and a classical Latin-American BBQ that is held in the hut every Sunday from midday. Every second Saturday afternoon we hold a forum where there is a discussion of current Latin-American affairs.

Roomies is an award winning art group and part of the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre's Boarding House Project. Roomies, the name of previous group exhibitions, takes the tradition of boarding house roomies into a new space, where the roomies share their art experience.

Marrickville Community Nursery is a wholesale nursery specialising in growing local native plants for special projects, such as Landcare, school plantings, and council giveaways; and small scale sales to the local community. The Nursery has a small bush garden, a Green and Golden Bell Frog pond and is an environmental education site for local schools and community groups.
