The Addison Road Child Care Centre is a non-profit Marrickville Council run long day care centre, catering for children 0-5 years of age. The centre is open from 7.30am-6pm, Monday to Friday.
The Addison Road Child Care Centre has continued to develop its care and education program in the past 12 months. There have been many exciting and innovative changes that have impacted upon the program and have helped the centre continue to provide a high quality service.
The centre currently has over 20 different cultural groups represented in the families enrolled at the service. Many of these children speak a language other than English as their first language. The centre strongly believes that the children should have the opportunity to use and maintain their home language within the centre environment.
To be successful learners, these children require a program that supports the development of their home language as well as promoting the development of their second language (English). Appropriate resources and bilingual staff are used in the centre where possible and staff are comfortable in using their own languages with the children.
